The Derby Boys are named for the hats that are so popular on St. Patrick’s Day and for the Kentucky Derby which is held each May in our hometown (Louisville, Kentucky). The band plays classic Irish pub songs that are sure to stir the soul and set the perfect mood for a fun time!

We’ve had such a great time over the years performing in Louisville and Southern Indiana. We’re truly blessed to have such wonderful fans and understanding families!

Many thanks to the folks who have hired us (Irish Fest, World Fest, Brendan’s, RiRa's, O’Shea’s, The Pub, Sully’s, Molly Malone’s, Celts on the River, the Irish Society, and the Hibernians) and the musicians who have played with us (2 different Pat McKiernans, Rick Eaves, Jay Pendleton, Don Wooldridge, Angie Hopperton, Kevin Oechslie, Andy Ruff, Conor Murphy, Page Mills, McKenzie Ashby, Zac Meihouse, David Lindsey, & Paul Issing.) Finally, thanks to all who share our love of song and love for the beauty of Ireland, her people, and her music.

Bio
The Derby Boys had their start at Brendan's Irish Pub in St. Matthews in the Louisville area. Ken McKiernan (singer/guitar), Shaun McKiernan (singer), and Pat McKiernan (guitar) and Phil Gatton (drums) had great success in the early days... we lost Pat early on due to our late-night partying... and Ken's family moved away so he had to follow them... but we added Bill Branch (mandolin/banjo/guitar), Matt Ashby (vocals/guitar/whistle/harmonica), Mason Daugherty (bass), Sheri Quinn (fiddle) and Donal Caffrey (bodhran). All bring a wealth of talent and experience to the band.

Brothers Ken and Shaun had their start with the "McKiernan Family Singers." These ten singing siblings performed at civic events (Heritage Weekends and Irish Festivals) and for the local Hibernian Division in the late 70's and early 80's. "In a live show, the fun on stage is infectious!" according to Ken McKiernan "Senior," Ken and Shaun's dad and perhaps one of their biggest fans. "They have really embraced our Irish heritage and have a great love for the music that is so important to the Irish."
